A Message from Bill
Thank you for visiting PoweroftheWinds.com. You should know first and foremost that I am a music educator. I have been a band director for thirty years and have taught at all grade levels. These arrangements are the result of my commitment to good teaching. I have created them with my band students in mind. All of the full band arrangements were written for my students. They answer a need—specific technical practice, melodic development, or to feature those “forgotten” sections. My students have performed all of these arrangements in various concerts. My arrangements help my students improve, challenging them, teaching them, and showing them that making music is fun. I hope you can find something you like that will suit your needs as a music educator. All of my arrangements have happened because of a need that could not be met by the major publishers.
What do you need for your band? What type of music can’t you find anywhere else? I can help. We have many director testimonials.
Thank you again for visiting Power of the Winds Publications.
About Bill Simon
Bill Simon has been teaching band and arranging music for 30 years. He began arranging songs during his college years while playing polkas in the Frank Kinayski TV and Recording Orchestra. Since that time, he has written hundreds of arrangements for just about every kind of ensemble--from concert band to Tuba Quartet. During the past 30 years, he has taught band at Medford High School, Alma Area Schools, and at the present time Bill Simon teaches in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. He has studied arranging with Dominic Spera, Ron Keezer, Ivar Lunde and Michael Cunningham and has received both his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Music Education from the University of Wisconsin at Eau Claire. He has served as an adjudicator in music contests, directed bands at the Indianhead Arts Center, served as a guest clinician for jazz and concert bands, and has been published in the Leblanc Bell. His music has been chosen by WSMA and J.W. Pepper. Somehow, even with this busy schedule, Bill maintains his commitment to arranging pieces for concert bands, jazz bands, brass quintets and other smaller ensembles.
