This is a collection of three folks songs associated with the Great Lakes. Each movement is arranged in a unique and enjoyable style. "The Erie Canal" is rhythmically uncomplicated but very dramatic. "Follow the Drinkin' Gourd" should be played in a bluesy jazz style. The soloists should stand and be allowed to improvise if they desire. "The Sailor's Alphabet" is a fun, fast three-four tune that the students will love.
